few questions about raid

What happens if my motherboard dies? Would I have to make sure I plug the drives back into the same motherboard?. I plan to use software raid.

I have 6 large hard drives. When I watch a movie, will all the drives be constantly working?

Do you think it makes more sense to just backup all my movies on hard drives and just store them away?

YES AND NO!

If you use the exact same motherboard then yes you can just fire away, BUT you will need to set the bios up to accept the raid configuration as well as well as overclocks etc
