Hi all, I'm looking to build a PC for gaming with room for some Overclocking.

The specs I'm currently considering are:

-Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)
-2 x Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel Kit
-Corsair HX 620W
-Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler
-2 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB

Now I’m faced with two problems, 1) Motherboard and 2) Graphics card.

From what I know the Geforce9800 will be released sometime in November? (Willing to wait around a month)
So I’m assuming effectively what I’d want is an X38 MB due to it utilising the PCI-E 2.0 for the GFX card?

My choices really between the X38's are the Asus P5E and Gigabyte GA_X38_DQ6, but I noticed the Gigabyte is not compatible with the 800 MHz ram? And I'm not really wanting to go for the DDR2 1066 MHz.

I'm wondering if OCuk will be getting other X38's and if so when?

Last question. I have an Emu1212m soundcard which uses 2 PCI slots but these new motherboards don’t seem to have any PCI? How would I go about using this soundcard on a new rig?

Budget around £1000 not including monitor.

Any relevant replies would be appreciated, thanks.

If you are willing to wait and pay the price for new hardware when it does appear then yeah, hold on.

Otherwise I'd go for the 8800GT and a P35 board (comined with DDR3 compatibility).

Thanks for replying.

I'll stick to my original plan as I don't see the point in buying 8800GT when 9800 is so near.
