Hi there,

Just curious.. If I was to get this package I would have course be using HDMI. However - Having seen pictures of the back of an xbox 360 it just crossed my mind is it possible to get some kind of audio out so I can use the amp instead of the TV speakers?

Also, the 360's have an ethernet port yeah?

And finally, that package is everything I need to get going? Well besides some games

Also afaik you have to convert videos to MPEG or whatever to get them to play on xbox 360 if your using it as media extender. Is this true? and if so how long does it take to convert divx videos of say of around 1.5~ gig?

Rather than starting a new thread. Is the picture better n a 32" LCD with HDMI or VGA?

I replaced my broken 360 and now have an HDMI port, wondered if itwas worth switching from VGA to HDMI.

Sorry for the thread hijack.

If you have an amp that can run HDMI then let it handle your picture and sound from your elite. Thats what I do with my Onkyo 605. Otherwise if your amp can't handle HDMI run optical as others have said.

Didn't link to an elite? Besides its sorted. (and what your talking about is a Reciever ;))

Anyone got the low down on the whole converting video thing yet as well?

In that link, why is the 360 called a "Professional Games Console"? It looks like a bog standard premium.

I'd say your probably better going with HDMI if you can, the cables arn't too expensive and it's usually a better picture and sound quality :)

HDMI is better, at best VGA can hope to be as good as HDMI. Whether the difference is noticeable is a different matter, but for the sake of a cheap HDMI cable you definitely should.

Another questions.

Would it be cheaper to just get the Arcade and buy a HDMI cable for it?

I don't think i need the hard drive for anything, I just want to play the occasional game and stream stuff over the network. Dont need a hard drive right?

You'll need the hard drive mate. Lots of big game saves, Arcade downloads & demos. It all mounts up!!!
I'd wait though as they are apparently dropping the prices on the 14th of this month :)

Yeah im certainly not buying anything just yet.

I'm not bothered about demos.

What kind of downloads might there be? Game trailers and stuff? if so im not bothered about those either.

"big game saves" that does concern me however. How much memory for saving games does the arcade have? Is it really not enough to save progress in 5-10games? :(

With the new prices the hard drive package dosen't look to bad price wise - But would be a waste if im not going to use it.
