I wanna know if these babys can do SATA III - I was gunna buy 3x 240-260GB drives or 120GB SSD I am happy with a mix n match...
COMP ONE SERVER
First I've a Microserver N40L by HP . It has been upped to 8GB and has 3tb x2 for storage. Now it boots from it's 250gb drive. First it's uses:
Fileserver, download box (usenet/torrent) and it'll handle media for my HTPC and all Rasp pis that are on each TV. It uses atm VITAMIN D which is CCTV sorta software but right now 1 indoor cam to toy with.
For the server would it be worth using an SSD drive over my 250GB (that it came with?)this is as the boot? Or should I leave that as a HDD or next big drive I buy partition so much as the boot and the rest for other things. I have PCIE 16x and 1x unused.
Back to the cam biz I think Vit D writes 24/7 to a drive (need to readup)I am due to buy 2 outdoor cams and maybe more indoor.
OS IS WINDOWS SERVER 2008 but I would move to Ubuntu Server or something however Vitamin D is Windows only I think. Might lok at other software too.
COMP TWO HTPC/Gaming
Now I got another comp here which COULD be a desktop but space IS limited in my bedroom so it's gunna be a HTPC. I never built this computer, my mate did. here are the specs:
AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition 3.5ghz
MSI Twin Frozr II HD6950 2GB DDR5(AMD)
4GB DDR3 RAM
Samsung DVD/R-W
Corsair TX650w PSU
Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty 7.1 Sound Card
I added a 80GB HDD for now to get it up n running with Win8 as it never had one nor does it have bays (will ask him for them). Was gunna add an SSD drive to it and that will be the OS's for this I would opt for 240gb over 120gb as it'll have games stored/installed. I aint sure on its mobo tbh but it should support SATAIII - btw it does not have media stored on it thats the servers job. It has an ANTEC case thats basic looking and it's 650W
I plan on a new case my mate has a LANBOY AIR ANTEC which is nice but still looking for a HTPC geared one. This is a XBOX/PLAYSTATION replacement.

Next is my Laptop I have and like, my sis has the same too. There's 3 faults - enough to return which I am doing for the same or put money into a faster one
Wireless LAN drops but thats software at fault which I need to fix so I use wired and when it "clicks" I have to fiddle for it to work. - this I could live with....
recently it failed to boot (at all). Just blue power light nothing on the screen when I get lucky and bootup the keyboard isnt working - I hit a key and 2 come up so I use USB - today it booted so I am gunna save up all my stuff and clean it and see if the booting problem continues.
Acer Aspire E1 15.6-inch Laptop (Black/Silver) - (Intel Core i5 3210 2.5GHz Processor, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, DVDSM DL, LAN, WLAN, Webcam, Integrated Graphics, Windows 8 64-Bit)
I would like a replacement ideally as I paid £320 and its £380 now. If I get moneyback I'd opt for faster CPU maybe. Or if the same. Swap out the HDD for SSD and give my sis 4gb and up to 8gb module but I think it's single slot
