Due to getting a job, i want to upgrade my spec a little.

E6300
P5B
1 gb geil c4
7900gs
Hyper 580watt
WD Cavalier 250gb

At the moment im thinking:

Asus P5N 650 or the Abit 650 - so i can then go SLI with some 8800s in the future.
And another 2 GB of ram, Any brands reccommended?
Poss a X-Fi

I was wondering when the C2Ds are to decrease in price? tempting a 6600

Anyone got anyother opinions?

I think the 6300 you have is fine if you are on a budget and should clock to higher sppeds with little effort. I can't see the C2D prices being pushed down any further until AMD come up with something a little more competitive, which is unlikely for the foreseable future.

The problem you have is the GFX card. Althugh it seems like a bargain it will have a very limited life. You might want to plough some extra cash in to better GFX card though but then it depends if you want to play latest and up coming games on it.

My opinion is to buy an X1950XT for under £130.. or get your self 8800 GTS 320mb for around £180. Buting the 8800gts will enable you to play the latest games at a decent frame rate and for a few years to come.

Also, 2gb of 6400 RAM might be best for you too.

Atm the GFX isn't a problem for me,

my 7900gs is over clocked to about GT speeds. And i only really play CSS or BF2142 that push it, and never nearly see under 100 fps.

I'm thinking RAM and MOBO, as atm my MOBO is holding my overclock back, and the extra RAM for Vista - when the nVidia drivers work.

Ram wise can anyone recommend a good 2GB pr for 100-140ish.

Cheers

Another gig of the GeiL will do the trick.

I'd lose the Hiper PSU tbh. 520W Corsair etc.

yea i was tempting one too, seeing all the current failures.

So i think RAM mobo and PSU, might as well throw a tuniq tower in too.
