Up a Tree...
hello,

i ordered a phone contract with a few xbox 360, but.. after thinking about it £45 a month i cant really afford at the moment, so i cancelled this morning.

but... i still want a xbox 360,

i been reading a lot on these forums and google.
here is a few questions, if its possible to help me with.

- is it best to buy brand new with 1 years garantee with the problems that have been going on with the xbox? (e.g stratches, errors) or to buy a package with games off ebay for the same price?...

- will the xbox 360 work together with my pc, i want it to be able to go through my sound system for my pc, which is a FATAL1TY X-FI soundBlaster which has the panel at the front, my speakers are a creative 5.1 set, would this connect to this? and how?

- i would also want to play it through my pc monitor, which is a DELL 2047 24inch, i think its possible ok, does the lead with the premium console work with it? has anyone got there pc monitor attached to it?

-would it be possible to connect it via wireless using my pc, as that will be next to it, paying £50 for a xbox wireless adaptor is rather a lot, considering its a tiny thing for it, and my pc cost one half that.

- i use to be a big ps2 fan, then i got drawn to my pc games, but now i loved with forza 2 can do, and it made me want to get a xbox 360. and as much as i wanted a ps3, its just to expensive for the time of market its in right now with no list of games, give it a year or 2, then it will be ok.

i think thats all my questions at the moment,
please give me any advice or info that i havent covered yet, as it would keep me busy while i get the money together. ;)

cheers, CooliceT

Buy brand new, they're cheap enough nowadays.

Does the sound car have digital or analogue input? I presume so, and yes it would work.

You'd need the MS or Joytech VGA cable to use your montor.

Yep, you get an ethernet cable with the 360 too.

Correct.

Got to agree, get a new one with an extended warranty. A certain catalogue shop does an extra 2 yrs for £35 I believe, although I dunno if their current 360 bundles are any good. Get the official MS VGA cable btw.

thanks for the replies.

i have been tempted on a well known auction site to get one, but..
yea with the current problems, i think its best to get one new, i want to find one that has 2 wireless pads, a couple of games and the premium version under £299

im not sure whats the best place to go get one,
and the best deals at the moment...?

Yes for all your questions.

Personally I would use a VGA cable (seperate) over the Component cable (which comes with it) on that monitor. VGA absolutely destroys Component on my 2405.

You can also set it up as a Media Center extender from your pc and use it very similarly to a HTPC. I set up my friends, so his PC is upstairs, 360 is downstairs and wireless streams his films, music between the two.

Agreed. Same on my 2407 A04 :)

oh nice how did you do that?

im looking at the VGA cable.. it doesnt come with the console?
No, VGA cables are seperate.

Core: Composite (SD)
Premium: Composite (SD) / Component (HD).

So you will get a HD cable, but its' only for HDTV's, if you want to use it on a monitor you need to buy a VGA Cable seperately.

is there any good deals on the xbox 360 at the moment,

premium kit but with 2 pads, and extra's?
Some people here have gotten some great deals.

I think I saw someone get 2 or 3 games and an extra wireless pad for £300.

::: CooliceT :: one of the images in your sig rotation is larger than 20KB, the maximum allowed filesize.

One of the two main specialist highstreet games retailers does a premium with Forza and GOW for £279 which isnt too bad, probably even better offers if you look round.

fixed.

and i found a premium deal for £229.99 and the rest of the bits i can get seperate :)

It is usually quite a bit cheaper to get them as a package. Even if you don't want the extra bits it is still worth it as you can often sell them for more than the difference between what you pay and the price it on its own. For example yesterday I saw a premium model with 3 games and an extra wireless controller for £289.98. The games alone are worth £100+!
