FF XI - worth a tenner?

Just seen this on the web for a tenner!. Been a big fan of the series but started to lose interest at X/X-2.

Whats 11 like? I assume you'll need a subscription to more than just live? Do you have to play through with a friend? Anything else I should know?

Its a MMORPG so yes a further monthly subscription (besides xbox live) is required. IMO the game should be free if you have to pay to keep playing. Can't comment on gameplay since it never interested me. FF11 is completely online and there is no offline story what so ever.

Wait for FFXII. It plays like an online game but with an awesome story etc.

You only need a live silver account to play but there are additional fees.
It is also a tough grind, there are hardly any quests. You just wander around killing things initially.

Its good, however its nothing like guild wars etc. To really enjoy this game you have to play it loads (and i mean that) If you just playing at the weekends its not really enough to get anywhere.

So really up to you i guess

I'm a huge FF fan but I've never been interested in XI. It's completely different to the others since it's MMO.

big fan of FF games to and never touched ffXI for various reasons the main one was subscription charges and some lesser ones such as hearing about people waiting for ages in a que out side a cave just to get a quest done.....

think ill stick with guildwars
