Yeah personally I prefer text RPGs. Especially if the main character has a voice like Tidus from FFX *shudder*.
But I've played over 45 hours of FFXII and its really good. There are some things I'm not too fussy on, like the customisation of the characters using the Licence board and the music (sounds all the same. miss Uematsu's melodies). But overall it feels like a real Final Fantasy.
BTW, the combat system is great. Especially once you level up and get some more abilities.
