Final fantasy 12.

yeh or nay?

This game has mixed reviews.

some day its better than 10? BUt its meant to be different? theres no random battles and there is big areas to explore? Not linear? Open world like oblivion or not?

I've just started replaying this (after playing for about 30mins when I first got it at release) and got a lot of feedback myself.

It seems the consensus is it is promising but doesn't quite meet expectations.
The graphics are a little dodgey for PS2 and the battle system (which I love) has the occasional little glitch on rare occasions.

I for one LOVE it so far. I HATED FFX sooo much. This one is so much more free. More Non-linear (they got rid of the 'corridor' effect that came back in 13) and the idea they used for seemless battles with no 'cutaway' keep the play fast and smooth IMO.
It feels much faster paced than the really sleepy feel of FFX.

I say go for it. If you love FF you'll love it :P

Loved FFXII. Then again, I quite liked FFX, though by the end of X I'd had enough, whereas with XII, I could see the end coming and just went back and and finished off every little thing I could just to keep it going.

Well I have not played either so I dunno which one to play

Im also playing ff7 on psp lol

And into disc 2 on ff8 which I never completed before either.

Ff9 I got to final disc but I dont think I cba to repaly taht game?

I think I'd finish off the ones you're currently on with, then play FFX first, then XII.

As I said, I enjoyed them both, but I'd keep the better one till last if I were you.

Well its a lot off hours gaming.

Im near end off disc 2 on ff8 atm....I once got to the end of disc 3 when it was 1st relaesed but got stuck and gave up or something I cant even remember? Maybe I got bored?

FF8 was the one that got me into the 'new' ones (3D), absolutely loved it, and 9 was awesome as it took me back to the original games in style.

I say if you're short on time then choose between FFX and FFXII.

If you don't mind corridor style linear play, and you want an exotic new world and comforting soundtrack go for FFX.

If you want a more open world, a more traditional FF style setting (knights and stuff) and an exciting new battle system (with no 'cutaway' to battles, they're in the world) then go for FFXII.

(ok, you can see I'm a bit biased, but they're the main differences).
