ffdshow and MPC HC - help setting up

I'll be honest and say that media codecs aren't exactly something that I'm clued up about, but I've read a lot of content on line about using ffdshow and MPC HC for a better media experience; when playing formats that ffdshow handles.

I was using this guide but the options in the screen captures do not match those of the latest installers and preferences for ffdshow or MPC HC.

So I'm not feeling confident about getting this all working.

• Does anyone know of a later guide
• Which video formats will ffdshow decode? I.e. if I was going to test if this was working, what media should I text with?

I use ffdshow-tryouts and mpchc and lav filters

You just need to disable everything within mpchc filters and then leave everything enabled in ffdshow-tryouts. Then install lav filters without the lav audio. Do you want to use dts passthrough ? then you need to enable that on the output tab of the ffdshow-tryouts audio options. Also need to set the rendered in mpxhc to evr sync.

Make sure dxva is disabled in ffdshow, might be by default. Then you would have my config. I find it the best after trying different combinations.
