FFOC is now £20 to join!

 They had some good how to's on there, but whats the reason for a £20 membership?? Granted if it was for bandwidth, but I thought they got money from sponsors for that

I was a member since 2004, glad I still have access to my messages because I just recently sold some stuff and was waiting for an address to send when a cheque cleared, user would have been most upset!

sxoc is £15 per year.

I've had multiple £10 discounts off track days. Reduced price on rr day. Free 20 minute tuition on a track day. Free use of garage on track day one time.

Pays for itself in one way or another each year, before you even consider the forum bandwidth. Is the Fiesta club not like that?

i think its more down to paid members not feeling that they were getting anything more than non paying members.

a keyring and a sticker and stand access at major events, was about all you get more than a normal member.
so instead of making a new members area, they have made a lot of the forums members only.

it is a shame, as plenty of people have been referred to specific threads on ffoc from here before, now that wont be able to happen unless the person being referred is willing to pay £20!

Not all want to meet up and smack the meat over your bonnet though. I just enjoyed browsing and posting I think they should have a contribution to the bandwidth and a full membership to goto club meets and have gay sex!

Sxoc didnt do much for the first couple of years and ended up with >£10K surplus. They now seem to be spreading the wealth with more organised days coming up.

£20 is a bit much. Clio sport is a fiver....but if it was £20 it would lose most of its members.....17 y/o spotty pubescent chavs!

ffoc is now over 4 years old, might be nearer 6?
plenty of local events get organised, but that could be via any forum really to get a half decent discount, they arent members only discounts.

Dont pay Dont post. Simple. Been like this all day on there. A) its only £20 B) there is the possibility of forums only membership coming soon and C) its not just for the forums, its always been £20 a year to join and get all the other benefits. Now certain parts of the forum are members only. Seems fairly straight forward to me.

why pay to post freedom of speech though! Not all like meeting up. If I goto any car show I dont wanna be surrounded by a majority car which i own i.e. a Focus bit naff IMO!

I think anyone should be able to view and post, that way everybody is contributing to the community. However members should get extra benefits. Its the way Honda revs is run. Its disappointing that sometimes non member have plenty to contribute but can't due to not being able to post. Hardly furthering the cause is it?

Problem with charging like that is that if you significantly reduce the memberbase by putting people off, you get less people posting, less advice, etc etc and the whole thing moves backwards..

Pretty much what I meant but my brain broke at 8.32 this evening.

Words taken out of my mouth.

It will just turn the site into best friends site, people will leave and there wont be as many people joining.

I went on the site few months back looking for reviews and pics, it was a useful site, there is no way I would pay £20 just to get some info on certain Focus models.

Some of the how tos on forums would save you over £20 in one go, I know it has for me.

there are plenty of focus forums with how to's and plenty of new places popping up with the same old people that were on ffoc, who will have their own copies of the how to's to post again, which will be viewed for free.
