Looking to update the stereo in my wife's Fiat Tipo. It's a 2020 plate and came with very standard stereo. What's the best option for adding a touch screen with android auto?

Something like this:
Note that one in the picture has *wired* Android Auto, if you want wireless you need at least this sub-SKU or higher, off that same link:

Thanks both. I saw these but was unsure how they would perform. Don't want soemthing that is slow.

You can buy the OEM Fiat infotainment that supports Android Auto / CarPlay like here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/29673918...wTXGUXfR1i&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

It’s the 7” UConnect option. You’d need to check if retrofit requires any modifications, or is simply Plug&Play. Owners groups are always useful for this!

That style is fitted to models with a very different upper dashboard design, it's the typical "Nail an iPad to the dash" afterthought design and won't fit the OP's car. You can get double DIN conversions for the OP's style head unit which opens up a lot of options: https://caraudiodirect.co.uk/produc...-2015-black-double-din-radio-installation-kit

din that sounds like a much better option - buy a decent aftermarket alpine/pioneer you could even sell on down the line and re-install current one
(pity you can't do that in cars like my Audi/bmw with screen on top of dash)

Buy the Aliexpress thing, I've had one before and for the price they are decent. Can find them on FB marketplace 2nd hand now and then too for peanuts.

Generally the ali-express units are pretty decent. Do be aware that sometimes they lie about the processor and ram and will change the system info to make it look like it has a different processor and more ram but there are ways to find out that they have done this once you have the unit.

I got an Aliexpress for my daughters Fiat Grande Punto. Really good piece of kit for the £68 I paid. Steering wheel controls all work great and is wireless android auto. They come with their own can bus module so things like door openings and reverse camera all work without having to wire anything else in. All plug and play. Although you do have to run the wiring from the back to the front for the camera but not hard at all.

As mentioned above you can get an OEM solution for your car but you need a specific cable £35 and a 40 Euro program called MultiECUScan to proxy alignment (marry up) the canbus for the new headunit.

Did you have any luck with the upgraded radio?
I want to upgrade mine but it is the sat nav version

I didn't. I gave up and purchased a car tablet from Aliexpress that is mounted to the dash and hangs over the existing unit. It has wireless Android Auto which was the main reason for upgrading. It was much easier.
