I'm on fibre 35. I'm using a dsl dongle to rj11 cable to the talk talk broadband input

My brother has the same router but he has a outside box with inside metal box then that goes into the WAN red input on the Router with a rj45 style cable He gets much faster speeds than me. I get 4mb sec download and he gets 18mb.

Are we on both fibre if so why is does he have the extra boxes and different cable?

Should I contact talk talk asking them to do the same thing with the two boxes and cable?

Depends, sounds like your brother has FTTP full fibre to the home. However are you sure his speeds are only 18Mb? I’d expect a lot higher if he’s on FTTP.

Your service is FTTC, fibre to the cabinet it sounds like. So unless you’ve had full fibre installed in your area recently it’s a no.

That said, are you incredibly far from the cabinet? To be on a fibre 35 plan but only achieve 4Mb sounds bizarre too.

I have Fttc 80 meg and I get 9mb downloads so if your on Fibre 35 then 4mb sounds right.
Your brother is probably on fibre 160 to get 18mbs so your not on the same package as he is.
