Fibre fail lol lol

Got a call this morning at mates place where he doing building work. Fiber line got cut so no internet. He said the sparky there stripped back the insulation on the cable and twisted the "wire" together and taped it up but its still not working.

Boy did that brighten up my morning :cry:

Time to bill his sparky for £145 for Openreach etc to come out and run a new cable.

Apparently the sparky was complaining saying its a cheapo cable doesn't even use copper and thinks its just poor quality aluminium :cry:

Wasn't sparky that broke it, was a builder. Lol

Right, i spoke to sparky and suggested the wire could be oxidised hence why getting bad or no connection.
He now gonna get his kit and try soldering it back together

Had that in school I was working as IT manager on few years back. 23h work day that was for me, they cut both Virgin data AND BT's voice fibres at same time, so had to wait for both of them to be restored

There was way less fibre splicing equipment back then....
