Hey Folks so got Fibre broadband in today and all seems well getting 38mb/s Download and 9mb/s upload with a 21ms Ping.

all is fine When Connected through the WIFI and Sitting down stairs the problem im having is i haven't had an Electrician out yet to drill a hole and run a Cable to my PC.

So im currently using my previous method of obtaining internet by tethering my phone to my PC Although using WIFI this time instead of Mobile Data.

Ping and Upload speeds are the same but only get around 15mb/s Download anyone have any idea why is it because my Motherboard only Supports Usb 2.0 until i upgrade next week.

Been Quoted 20-30 pounds and i have to buy the cable im looking at getting a Cat6 15m cable my Computer is only about 8m away from the Router is it worth getting the longer cable just in case i move it around and would i lose any speed?

Only you can decide whether having a longer cable would be worthwhile. It won't make any difference to the speed.

Are you just planning to use a pre-terminated cable? This will work but you have to drill quite large holes to get the plug through.

The link probably does break the rules. Best to delete it yourself if you care.

The actual cable looks fine.

I'd prefer flush mounted network faceplates rather than trailing cable ends, but it would be a more involved job and wouldn't work any better.
