Hey, apparently fibre is due to be rolled out at my exchange in march, however my house as its right next to the exchange and most other in my small village is connected via exchange only line. Does this mean after waiting years to finally get fibre that i wont be able to get it?? Im a bit confused to how it works, as i dont see the point in enabling fibre in my area if no house can get it? Or do they have a solution for that?

New to it all and just reading info on superfast-cymru website and coming to this annoying conclusion so hoping someone with more knowledge can shed some light on how this all works ? cheers :)

With exchange only lines a cab is needed right outside the exchange, which is probably what they'll do for you. What does the superfast cymru site tell you when you put in your landline number?

When i put my number in it says:

FTTC In Scope
You are connected to the Capel Curig exchange.

Your area is in scope for the roll out of Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC).

Work is ongoing to deploy the fibre network locally, however there's no guarantee of fibre service at individual premise level.

However if i put in my postcode it says exchange only line no fibre available yet.

You're a stones throw away from me! I live in Trefriw.

Capel Curig is on one of the final phases of the fibre roll-out in Wales. You may get FTTP if you're in close proximity of the exchange but there are not enough houses to justify a new cabinet.

haha really?? bloomin hell.. what your name if you dont mind me asking?

Im right next to the exchange, so hope i can get it! :( Be gutted if cant waited years !

If the number checker says you will then it's likely more accurate than the postcode checker. Does the BT DSL checker show anything?

Funnily enough i just today got switched to FTTC, the cab was only enabled about 3 weeks ago. It was meant to be enabled in June! :p

I don't think anyone in your village is more than about 200m away from the exchange. :D

My name is Ben.

Yea one of my mates from trefriw today told me hes got fibre now! Thats why i was like damn i better check incase i can get it yet!!

The Bt thing doesnt show anything yet no :(

The main 3 exchanges near me, the EO lines all got connected to a new cab outside/very close to the exchange, however in all 3 cases it was the very last cab to be installed and connected, so you may have to wait a little longer than most

As above direct to exchange usually gives great ADSL speeds, but no option of VDSL without a cab being installed, from personal experience the exchange I still have an ADSL2+ connection in is great till you want VDSL, then it sucks as it's a low priority.

Ah makes sense that its one of the last exchanges in my county to be enabled then! hopefully all will be good! cheers all.

Capel Curig is one of 3 final exchanges to go live in Conwy County, all due to go live in March.

It's not a matter of if you'll get fibre but a matter of when. :p

This is the current status for your exchange:
