Couple of questions, hopefully someone can answer!

Who supplies (apart from Sky) a single modem/router with FTTC, or can I use my own modem router? Any recommendations if I do get my own?

Also, my master socket is in another room with no power sockets near it, my run my adsl router from an extension. Do I definitely need to run the fibre modem from the master socket, or is there a way around this?

Thanks

You can have extension wiring, but it won't be what you're using for the ADSL at the moment. There used to be a data extension option you could book as a part of the installation at no extra cost.

Question Answers:

  1. BT - Supply just the HH5
  2. Yes you can use your own Modem/Router (At least with BT). I use the HG612 which I brought seperately when I was supplied with the HH5 from BT.
  3. I'd suggest the Huawei HG612 - You can flash it with unlocked firmware and gain access to your line stats! It's also very stable!
  4. You should definitely put the 'fibre modem' by the Master Socket for FTTC for the best possible service. If you haven't got your FTTC installed yet, the engineer attending (If one is booked) will likely move the socket for you on request.
