Fibre with no line rental from Voda

Have to pay a £49 'connection fee' which is strange because if you were with any over non-Virgin ISP then they all use BT's network, so what is the charge for? But have you attempted to haggle the prices down? I managed to get mine reduced by £9 and always do that when the contract has expired.
 
Fibre has always had an activation fee around £50 as it requires an engineer to go out even if you have a line already.

Higher priced packages tend to waive it though. For example BT Infinity 1 has the charge but Infinity 2 has none.

its not really the price that's the real issue, my area is badly overloaded in the peak hours I get about 4-6Mb from a 100Mb connection

I haven't paid full price for my internet for years because of this....Id sooner pay full price and have a decent connection
 
I'm with Plusnet and pay ~£41.00 for 76 mbps so it would be a no brainer to switch to Vodafone for £28.0 per month for the same service. Of course that's assuming I will get the same throughput which is currently the max line speed.

Well, there is line rental, it's just bundled into the price so you don't see it.That fibre activation charge as well, ouch. Not an open reach provisioning charge, that could be extra (£60) if required. I wouldn't be surprised if they raise the prices quite a bit in 12-18 months and this is just a ploy to get people on board.
Looks as though the contract is 18 months.
 
Lets not forget that this is Vodafone as well, at least Virgin own their own network and can arrange to fix stuff. Vodafone will still have to arrange through Openreach so if you have a problem you may as well start pulling your own teeth.
 
Awwww its saying I can get a Max of 60Mb.

When I moved into the house a year ago I could get 72mb. What would cause it to drop 12mb?

More accurate information probably.

It's 12Mb though, why is this a problem? If you "only" had 24Mb to start I'd understand but 72 to 60 you won't feel the difference.
 
Faster speeds are nice to have but you end up utilizing your connection less and pay more (the Vodafone deal may be one of those rare exceptions) for the privilege :) I'd rather wait a bit longer for things to download because even standard broadband is fine for most streaming uses.

Don't get me started Virgin are about as useful as a chocolate fire guard

5 years utilisation issue ....enough said really...4G is faster of a night for me.
