fiesta clutch problem

Hey folks,

For the past year my fiesta's clutch has been playing up intermittently. It has been fine for the past few months with no issues at all, but all of sudden, since the rain started poaring down it started again.

Anyway the issue is that the clutch pedal keeps getting stuck when pressed down to chain gear. When in neutral it works fine, you can press it down and it returns (about 3/4 of the way up). But select a gear and it will get stuck and within a few seconds you will not be able to change out of that gear (even though the pedal is still on the floor).

If I pull the pedal up though, I can then press it down and change gear again. This happened last night for me and within a couple miles of driving stopped happening, this morning though it did it again.

I had the clutch checked out when it first happened a year or so ago and the mechanic checked everything including the master slave which all checked out fine, he couldnt find a problem.

Any idea's on what it could be as its highly annoying :)

What year Fiesta is it? I had the ST, I seem to remember it being recalled for a clip on the clutch pedal which stopped it from doing what you said your's does! I would check with your local Ford garage to see if yours needs it!

So its been 4 days now this has been happening, seems that if I put the car into gear and keep the clutch pedal down after 5 seconds it will very slowly start to engage and the car will start to creep forward.

If I then lift my foot off the pedal it will engage fully but remain down or partially down and prevent further changes unless I manually pull it up fully. I'm wondering if it just needs a service though as its not been done in years.
