What performance modifications have you done to your Fiesta ST, and what have you got out of it?

Although this is looking like my next purchase, the Clio 182 is still tempting because it's faster at standard. I do however prefer the looks of the ST and without a doubt the interior.

I don't see the point in going down the route of Turbos/Superchargers etc, I would rather spend more money on a different car or the insurance.

Any idea how much the basics cost then? Exchaust system/Induction Kit/Dreamscience remap?

The reason they did it was to keep the insurance rating down. It offers ok performance, good handling and looks the part, but isn't really that quick.

They are cheaper to insure than a Clio 1X2 etc and sit in group 13 rather than 16+

That's exactly what I just said :S

It is slower so the car can sit in a lower insurance group and potentially be bought by younger people wanting something relatively sporty

A 182 with 15k-30k do not cost £4500, that's a poor comparison.

There is quite a big difference between the ST and the Fiesta-S, over 50% more BHP for a start.

When I checked previously there was around £600-£700 difference insuring a Clio and a Fiesta ST.

Either way, that's not what this thread is about.

I'm curious to see what sort of performance people have got from an ST with some relatively inexpensive mods, as I do think they are better looking (inside and out) than the 182.

However, i'm still not entirely decdied on which I will go for.

No you are quite right, I was just pointing out Clio 182's are readily available for 4.5k, a price range you will never find an ST in. 6k is pushing clio trophy money, a car that is just not comparable to the ST imo.

There is always the Clio 172. Not much difference in performance between the 182, cheaper to buy and does not attract unwanted attention.

How much are you looking at spending?

I appreciate that you wont get a Fiesta ST for 4.5K, but I just felt it was unfair the way you were comparing mileage etc.

I'm likely to spent between I would say £6000-£7500.

There's a number of cars I like but insurance can be a problem.

Fiesta ST - A little slow, looks great inside and out

Clio 182 Cup/Trophy - Already got a clio, I know it's a different car, interior isn't the best

VX220 - Would be a fair bit older, 2002/2003 model, insurance probably far too high

CTR - Not as good looking at the Fiesta/Clio, great car though, insurance possibly really high.

ST220 - Big car, but looks great, is a pretty good drive. Last quote was very expensive!

I want something that feels relatively new, which I would get by going for something like a Fiesta ST or maybe even the Clio.
