Since I got back from Uni after about two months, FIFA 11 has had very weird graphics glitches. The weird blocks on the screen only happen during cut scenes.

During a 'Be A Pro' match, the markers around players keep appearing and disappearing although I can't be fast enough to SS this. I have tried reinstalling the game with no luck.

No other game seems to be affected by this.

Also, twice now, the screen does not fit the monitor. The problem isn't overscan and is only fixed by switching resolution and switching back.

Not sure what forum to post this in.

Thanks,
Matt Wilde

*bump* I have tried reinstalling the game and reinstalling the gfx card drivers but nothing has worked.

I have an ATi Radeon HD 6950 2GB.

Also, the screen resolution didn't fit the monitor once more.

I have just about the same problem, and oddly enough the same GPU (though 2 in crossfire). The grass doesn't seem to render correctly (it did on my 9800gtx sli setup).

I get the blocky effect durring replays, the bottom inch or so of the screen renders properly, the rest is as if its set to low/medium settings.

It is just that the game is poorly made for PC and has poor driver support don't think there is much that can be done other than wait for fifa 12.

Have you tried a different driver version for the 6950 ? The 11.4 drivers are working fine here with Fifa 11 on my 5850.

Make sure that antialising is set to 'application controlled' in CCC, and try disabling 'Enable Surface Format Optimization' in CCC as well to see if it helps.

Hahaha, good call.

Thanks moodyB, I'll give that a try tonight and report back, I'm new to ati/amd gpu's so any help and tweaks is always welcome :-)

Nope still no joy, I'll roll back from 11.6 to 11.4 at somepoint soon and see if that helps.

Sorry it took so long to try!

Just tried 11.4 on a fresh windows 7 install and the same problem with the graphics, though its not AS bad as on 11.6/7 its still there, must just be a problem between fifa 11 and 6900 series cards, oh well not long until fifa12!

i had no end of issues with fifa 11 with my HD6850s too, so sold them and got a GTX460, graphics now all good and game runs smooth. thinks its an AMD thing :(

Yeah agreed, Fifa 11 was even fine on my 9800GTX+ cards, but users on 5 series AMD cards are reporting no issues, so I'm narrowing it down to a 6 series problem.

Its times like this I wish I wasn't so impatient and got a pair of GTX580's instead of two 6950's.

FIXED!!!

Ok so I jumped from 11.4 to 11.7 and got some random frame drops while playing, so I did a little searching about and found a solution for stutter/frame drops on the EA forums, and its also cleared up this graphical error. Heres what to do...

1. I use radeonpro ati profile you can find for free here http://www.radeonpro.info/
2. Make a new profile with fifa.exe and choose it
3. Click profile>Visual
tick the box for following and adjust

- Anti Aliasing = 4x (reduce this if you think your card cant handle)
- Anti Aliasing filter = Multisampling
- Anti Aliasing mode = Multi Sample
- Anisotropic filtering = 16x
- Vertical sync control = on unless application specifies

4. Click profile>Advanced
tick the box for following and adjust
- Catalyst Ai = advanced -Ignore, I cant find this setting in the latest radeonpro
- Mipmap quality = highquality
5. Leave other option blank.
6. When you click fifa.exe this application will automatically running, hence overriding ea gamesetting.
7. Set radeon pro to start with windows and minimize (tray) in radeonpro setting. everytime you play FIFA, it will automatically running. If not start with windows you have to open the application first after you shutdown and turn on the computer again

Yay thanks so much. This has worked. It has made a very big difference to how the game looks.

One thing though, I can't see the option to turn off the yellow FPS count in the top corner. Do you know where the option to turn that off is?

Thanks a lot.

I'm pretty sure there is a way to disable it, I'll have a look when I get home from work, until then just Google about, there's some good guides out there for using radeonpro
