FIFA and vote selling

You srs? A case about obvious corruption in Fifa where they display further corruption in the sentencing. You starting to see the trend?? Fifa is awfully corrupt, why would they charge themselves for being corrupt when they're all at it? Shooting themselves in the foot somewhat.

then someone should step in and do something about it
 
They hold too much power. If anyone ever stepped in (and who, feasibly could? They're a worldwide entity), and tried to demand prosecutions/transparency/change, FIFA would simply throw a wobbly, and threaten sanctions on said country's domestic league/teams. I seem to remember them considering doing something similar before.

Yep, clearly. Unfortunately it's never going to happen. You are right though, the blatent nature of it all and the fact that the entire world knows Fifa are corrupt and that Fifa just don't give a **** is highly unnerving, but ultimately they're pretty much untouchable.

Just look at recently, a few newspapers run the 1000th story on Fifa corruption, and they've more or less threatened to rubbish England's entire world cup bid. Imagine if somebody actually took a real stand in a public way rather than a few small newspaper stories, Fifa's response would be massive.
