Can't see how people prefer fifa, pes has depth of play, fifa is you get what you see in the first few seconds of play i.e. no depth whatsoever. Fifa isn't anything like football.

What do you mean depth?

Considering anyone can pick up PES, and just run, run, run from defence, how anyone can compare that to real football or say has depth is in need of help

cheers mate, the fact that you cant create your own team is annyoing me, are there secret unknown players which tend to become amazing?

There are regens but with different names and there profile faces are blank, Not sure if they are retired regens or just random. But there isnt a classic list of players like Pele that you could buy from like in the PES shop.

Yeah i would have liked to create a team like in PES as i find it more fun. Oh and another really bad point is that in PES you can play your ML team against your mates ML team which i loved but in FIFA you cant. its just bog standard teams to choose from, but you do get a lot more teams in FIFA then PES.

it would seem that this year the bottom line is they both have stuff that is good and bad but with fifa having the edge... it is such a massive shame that with the whole fifa and pes thing that it just comes down to money, i've heard comments that the companies are perfectly aware of the flaws but choose to leave them in so the game can be "improved" next year...

with that mentality, we will never have the game we all want

Right, i think i'm in a better position to comment now, i've had fifa for a while and have nearly done my first season and have played plenty of multiplayer...

i take it back that the gameplay is "plastic and synthetic" like i said in the first post... i think it just takes more getting used to that pro. Once you've given both a decent amount of time I would class the gameplay of fifa "different" to pro but not particularly better or worse...

basically, I'm not a die hard fan of either, i'm not really converting either, but i gave pro a good shot for a couple of months, moved to fifa, gave it a good shot and have decided to sell pro...

so for those who are not liking pro for the reasons in the OP, but don't really want to move to fifa due to how the demo plays on first impression, my advice would be give it a chance, then make your decision after 4-5 decent matches

Have you tried taking the assistance levels down to semi or even manual, will give you a lot more control.

Not trying to rattle the cage here with others but Fifa has it hands down this year.

the problem with fifa is the gameplay is too rigid, not enough curves in peoples runs

Joking aside, if you know the tricks and have a basic understanding of football Fifa can be as linear or dynamic as you want.

Running through the entire team with the goalkeeper doing turns and sidesteps is particularly fun, or you can pass it into the net by using simple 1-2's

I hate the hold A and run into players on Fifa but other than that I have really started to enjoy it. It really need's to be made a touch easier to go round a player

so true, these alone got me so frustrated when i first got the game. very unresponsive

more realistic running, moves and timing controls would make this game awesome, did someone say you can adjust something to make things more manual? how do i do this?

as far as im concerned both games are crap but addictive, which is why bot pes and fifa coders have the easiest jobs in the world.

its so easy to score on fifa, I've got both this year and I still can't see how people prefer Fifa's gameplay.

Then again, I never play these games single player (find it too boring / easy tbh) and pro is definitely much more fun than fifa when playin against your mates.

actually, on the PS2 PES>FIFA.

i was going to say fifa 09 on the ps3 plays better than it does on the 360. for some reason selecting a player on the 360 REALLY annoys me. sometimes i cant select the player i want at all. for example, the opposition have the ball and my team are peddling back, i want to select the player directly in from of the oponent with the ball. sometimes i have to press the stick 3 or 4 times before it actually selects the player i want. if you increase the player selection help slider thingy, all it does is deselect the player you are trying to control and select somebody else instead.

its actually infuriating sometimes, and i never found that playing the ps2 version.
