England squad:

Goalkeepers: Jack Butland (Stoke City), Fraser Forster (Southampton), Joe Hart (Manchester City).

Defenders: Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), John Stones (Everton), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur).

Midfielders: Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur), Ross Barkley (Everton), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Danny Drinkwater (Leicester City), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), James Milner (Liverpool), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City).

Forwards: Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Jamie Vardy (Leicester City), Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Danny Welbeck (Arsenal).

Glad that Drinkwater has got a call up, can't see too many issues with the players he's picked here.

Spurs and Leicester fans must be dreading these games. If Kane or Vardy get injured that could decide the title

I haven't watched a single England game since Sven, this team might actually change that. We have a fantastic young crop of players who I think play entertaining football.

Nice to see some new faces to the lineups.

You haven't missed anything, it's been mostly utter dross.

I'm feeling a little optimistic about this group of players. Yes, I don't expect us to actually win anything but it would be nice to play some football worth watching.

Until Rooney retires he will be an automatic pick. We also have woy in charge so the football is never going to be that good.

We do have a great crop of young players but whether they will get played is debatable.

Don't think Vardy will be any good for England without the other Leicester players around him, but then that is typical England national football, a team of individuals not playing together.

The problem is that we might play a youth side but against the top sides they will get beaten and then that team won't be played again. Either that or we will just revert to experience when we play tournament matches. The german and spanish national teams are so successful because they have a style of play that is uniform from a young age and partly because their national sides tend mainly to come from perhaps 2 league sides with the odd extra. Bayern and Dortmund and Real and Barca. With an almost fixed core they are free to rotate 2-3 players due to injuries etc without ruining the shape or balance of the team.

England on the other hand don't have any style to their play, are comprised of 6+ teams players and we rely on picking the best XI/ most experienced XI regardless of the style of players.

United are pretty much a representation of England at the moment. No real game plan, square pegs in round holes and players with competing styles all asked to cobble together something that works. Against most **** teams you can win simply by being a better collection of players but against organised teams you struggle.

Jesse lindgard, first choice for utd. Doesn't make the England bench. Shows exactly why we are out of the top 4 tbh. Ah well at least i can focus on house work this weekend

u wot? He's been excellent and deserves a call-up over the likes of Walcott and Lallana. Even Sterling's form is questionable.

Both Martial and Memphis on the bench in tonight's match, they were the only reasons i was going to watch :(

England line up for tonight

As expected but can't help but feel little disappointed that we won't see Kane and Vardy play up front together. This is Germany though and away match so can't take too many risks I suppose. Netherlands game may be a better opportunity to try out that combination.
