I used to play Pro-Evo a lot, as I beleive the gameplay used to be superior to FIFA.

As the gameplay gap narrowed though I switched to FIFA a couple of years ago (with the offical teams, stadiums etc it was the only way I would ever be likely to see Coventry City win anything! :().

Anyway, I haven't even touched a footy game since FIFA world cup last year and feel the need to partake again.

Is the gameplay difference still very narrow?

Played the PES 2012 demo on PS3 recently, but I would still expect to chose FIFA over PES based on previous versions of FIFA compared to the PES demo.

The PES demo wasnt bad, was quite good actually, but overall I think FIFA will still be better.

There is a FIFA 12 demo due in Sept sometime so play both and compare :)

Yeah I will try out the DEMO's cheers. I find you only get a small glimpse of the gameplay from sports demos though.

From only playing 10 or 11 me and my mates decided that Fifa was more fun single player, but pro was more fun in local multiplayer.

I've not yet decided which I'll get this year and I didn't bother last year.

FIFA09 converted me back to FIFA from PES since it first appeared on the market. Back then, the only let down for me in PES was the lack of official teams (although the unofficial updates were always good). For me, FIFA slowly clawed back the market they lost over the last 2 or 3 years, or maybe PES just lost it.

I fell in love with FIFA10. Just loved the fact that you could score some utterly ridiculous goals (although maybe they occured a bit too often). It also felt right to me and the AI wasn't too bad.

I was a bit let down with FIFA11. Firstly, I swear the AI is even dumber than previous games. The spectacular goals dried up a bit, which was a shame - although you can still score some real beauties. I haven't even played PES2011.

I would go with the newest FIFA over PES, but no harm in trying both. I think they are pretty close these days. Either game is amazing to play with friends on a drunken night in anyway. Infact, I can't remember the last time I played FIFA or PES on my own.
