EA revolutionized boxing games with Fight Night. Not wanting to let a good thing rest for too long, EA is stepping back into the ring, announcing Fight Night Round 4 for PS3 and Xbox 360. Though Round 4 won't be hitting store shelves until 2009, EA is starting the hype train early.

"The EA Sports Fight Night franchise has always been synonymous with quality and innovation that raised the bar for the sports videogame genre," said Kevin Wilkinson, Executive Producer, EA Sports. "EA Sports Fight Night Round 3 was a platform defining game as the industry transitioned to next generation consoles. EA Sports Fight Night Round 4 will change how boxing games are played and measured in the future."

Developed by EA Canada, Fight Night Round 4 promises that "no fight will be the same." Along with adding more fighting styles, Round 4 features a new physics-based animation system that allows for more realistic-looking missed punches, glancing blows and jaw-rocking knockouts. The game engine is being completely re-written to allow for greater boxer diversity and "rough and tumble" inside fighting.

The full list of boxers has not been released, but a few names have been revealed. Muhammad Ali is back again and will be able to enter the ring with Sugar Ray Leonard, Lennox Lewis and "Iron" Mike Tyson, among others. You read that right -- Mike "That is a Tattoo on My Face" Tyson is making his return to videogames. Hallelujah.

Hope the loading screens are quicker, which was my main gripe with this game, spent almost as much time loading as playing in career mode.

The last one got very repepetive, not sure what they can do different but stil a fun game, hopefully there are more things you can bust face wise :D

Loved the last one, still have bouts with my housemate on it while listening to Rocky music.. beautiful!

I never remember them being that bad, although I've not played it in a very long time.

omfg I loved the game from the moment I played the FN3 demo back in 2005. I still play the game even today! Bring it on baby! :D

Hardly a shock to see them roll our another in the franchise, loved the last one even if it got boring after finishing the career. Hopefully they can add a little more replayability into this one.

I would whoop you silly if I still had this.

If you had it...any excuse eh? bok bok :p

My main wish for 4 is that there are less button presses just to get to a fight. Whereas Assasins Creed took about 10 button presses to quit, it would take like 5 just to get into a career match. It was rather annoying when you just wanted to get into a fight and skip the pathetic training.

Hopefully it can go back to FN1 standards which was much better. The special punches are too over used in FN3 and even knackered you could pull them off with ease.

I loved the single player but for me, this game was amazing online. I got to know a good few people online who actually knew a thing or too about boxing and the fights and chats we had were brilliant.

Also blitzed on a Fri/Sat night at my m8s with the Rocky 4 soundtrack on, pure bliss. :D

I have some gift vouchers from 2nd hand shop due to me so watch out :P

I agree regarding the button pressing. That and the loading times made me do auto training much more than I wanted to.
