Been having an issue with my ST220 refusing to idle when warm since last Thursday, in my efforts to fix it I replaced the IACV and some vacuum hoses as the EML came on saying it was running lean but none of this made a difference so I was suspecting the coil maybe.
So I stuck the OBD reader in and went for a blast with it set to record misfires, at one point about a mile from home I floored it and my phone went berserk and flashed to a number of misfires in the high hundreds then reset to zero, normally if it detects a misfire it never resets so I thought WTF, so I slowed down to 40ish, whacked it in 2nd and redlined it, into third floored it and the pedal went straight to the floor whilst the engine stalled.
I popped on the hazards and coasted to the side of the road, had a look round to find the little metal clip on the end of the throttle cable missing so managed to bodge it up to get home with the EML and TCS warning lights both on (error codes now reading way too rich on both banks)
I get home and take the same clip off a spare throttle cable I have in the garage for another car and attach it, get back in the car to repeat my misfire test and when I start it up it's idling perfect, just took it for a 30 mile run and the issue has gone.
Surely an iffy throttle cable clip couldn't cause this?
