File association problem

I've got a weird little problem with web documents at the moment, when i try and open internet explorer i get this error message:

Now google is set as my home page so all it is doing is trying to open up the website, but it seems the htm/html file and prompts to save it :/

Also when opening programs like bitlord or GFI scanner, or any application which has a webpage embedded in to it, i get a download box appear and then the page opens up in firefox.

I've tried to change the "always open" option away from firefox but it doesn't seem to save the setting.

Has anyone encountered this problem before? Can anyone shed some light on the matter?

You've changed the default action in "explorer, tools, folder options, file associations, html/htm, advanced" to open?

Erm...

The properties for htm are as follows:

html is exactly the same.

Also getting this error in outlook when i try and open an html email:

If you highlight open and choose Set Default does that do anything?

Delete the extension and add it again?

Now i just get a blank page when i try and go to google in IE :/

Turns out it was IE7, uninstalled it and everything works fine.
