Hi there,

A friend of mine has been in touch as she has an issue with her windows file cleaner or something like that. She asked "my laptop is saying low disc space. Can I delete hibernation file cleaner as it is has 2.99gb in disc clean up. It's in the disc clean up area. I don't wanna delete it in case it deletes all my stuff"

I have never had this problem so never had to fix it, anyone know if she deletes that hibernation thing or what ever it is, will it remove any stored info on her HDD, as she has NVQ stuff on there.

Thanks to anyone that can help.

Disabling hibernation is fine. Many people with SSDs do it to free up space. I've done it for years even before I got an SSD.

You can also do it via an administrator command prompt.

Code:
powercfg -h off

As for those NVQ files, I'd hope she has multiple backups. Relying on one piece of hardware with something important is insane. If external drives aren't an option, at least dump them in the cloud. The free storage with google, MS onedrive, dropbox etc should be enough.

As above, you can disable hibernation and that will save a good chunk of space.

Might be worth remoting over and checking the system restore points as well, it should only take up to ~12% of space as default but if she's using Avast, there's an extra optional feature called NG component which raises it to 50% to "enhance" the deepscan feature.
