As above guys

I need to find something for a project at work, we are willing to pay for it if it's good enough?

Anyone got any recommendations?

Many thanks

Doesn't Vista allow for encryption. It is an extra with various editions of Vista I think. It claims to be able to encrypt whole disks, There was some fuss about it a while ago as the CIA wanted a key to be able to decrypt anyone's' disk but I don't think they got it.

Do you just want file encryption or are you interested in full disk encryption?

If you want FDE, then there's Bit Locker from Microsoft, for Enterprise Vista and Server 2008. Otherwise I can personally recommend DriveCrypt by SecurStar, Safe Guard by Utimaco and PGP Whole Disk Encryption by ...er, PGP. There are many, many others that I've not used, however, including SafeBoot, Entrust, BeCrypt, etc...

If you trust Wikipedia for being neutral and unbiased, then have a look here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_disk_encryption_software

Definatley truecrypt.

Scheduled for release this month is the full disk encryption feature, where a password is required at bootup to access the hard drives.

if you just want to password a file in an archive then 7zip can do that, and the passwords are super solid
