don’t like the way apple doesn’t let you have full control over how your media is stored. Say for example you have 160GB iPod Classic and a 40GB apple TV and say a 80GB Macbook as your only machine, that’s a total of 280GB of storage.

You think wow! I am going have loads of free hard drive space on my 80GB Macbook by being able to put my videos on to my apple TV, my music onto my iPod without having a copy on my Macbook.
There is no technical reason that this has not been implanted?

I see no reason that when my iPod is attached to my Macbook that the tunes stored on it cannot be viewed in cover flow on the mac/pc and that while attached they could not be played over apple TV and treated the same as they would be on an internal drive on the computer. Sure when the iPod is not attached they can’t be played through apple TV but here is an idea, how about an apple TV with built in iPod dock? Or the ability to use the USB port on the back to connect an iPod/iPhone or a universal dock and be able to use your media like that? Create pass codes or something for protection against abuse.

All I am asking for is an option for more advanced users who do understand that if your music is stored on a drive that’s not connected you won’t be able to access it over the “iTunes home network”

- but no apple insists on COPYING rather than MOVING! sure ok it has some useful reasons for backing up stuff, but you know what... its a risk id be willing to take to have full use of the extra space.
