My hard drive failed today in my homeserver and have reinstalled windows 7 until i get round to installing whs.

On the w7 installed each drive still has the folder permissions setup from my previous whs install and i forgot the account settings but have managed to get ownership of the folder but not the files inside this. I can right click on each file and change the setting under security but as there are over 2000 files is there a easier/quicker way of doing this?

cheers

From the top-level folder, did you tick "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects" when trying to take ownership?

not sure but i have managed to sort it.

Used a registry hack which places "take ownership" on the right click menu, right clicked on the main folder and took ownership and can now access all files.

cheers for reply.
