Basically as a little project, I want to turn my linux filserver into a router/firewall as well. So I need a distro which will have samba built in as well as routing features. I dont know a whole lot about networking, but Im part way into the cisco CCNA and I want to make something I can try things out on at home. The only main problem I have is that the 2 drives full of files I have are running reiser4 and NTFS. I really cant remember for hte life of me why I used that configuration but its put me in an awkward place. Can anyone suggest a distro which will fulfil my needs?

Thanks, George.

Smoothwall is brilliant. Have used it before and it is brilliant. Very simple to use and if you use the filters and stuff it is A1!

So is ClarkConnect home/community edition!

I have both a Smoothwall firewall/router box and a clarkconnect box acting as a file server. I prefer Smoothwall but if you want a single box to be both a router and file server i'd go with ClarkConnect since samba on Smoothwall is only supported through user created mods and its not recommended by most of the Smoothwall community since its not exactly top security adding samba to a firewall.
