So i was looking on OCUK & found this Link

Now i have 1 method of getting a Fileserver. The 2rd involves you

So i would like you to try an spec me up a great list of components together & around the same price as the linked Rig up to £300 (i could spec myself but its not as fun) :)

Uses:
Its going to be running Ubuntu Server Edition.
will be streaming Music on to my Devices around the house (10 in total)
Maybe Streaming 1080p Videos (to 1 or 2 Macs)
Be Storing all my Video Creation in 720p/1080p & Music in Apple Lossless

Requirements
Low Power - but pretty decent Cpu as it will be on 24/7
Be Smallish but big enough to fit 3/4 3.5" HDDs
Cool & Quiet as it will be in the bedroom.
Gigabit LAN inbuilt

Bonuses:
HTPC Style Case so it doesn't look out of place on my Tv stand.
Black Case
Easy to Modify (open up)

i think thats it Can you do it for £300? :D

ill need a TB disk me thinks, other than that it looks pretty decent. might bump the psu up to a cosair though

Im going to throw a curve ball here and ask if you've considered a NAS?

i have considerably and nearly hit the buy button. however the other use of this that i haven't disclosed, is i would like to muck out with linux more, i use it at work. so having a box in doors that i can break/fix will be very beneficial

also i know NAS can be Upgraded swapped out however, they don't always punch the power/CPU requirements. we have a NAS at work it barely hits 35MB write & read barely hits 40MB across the network which wouldn't be acceptable to me. so i would rather have a Dedicated box.

sorry if i was harsh in the above statments

i was hoping i could get a free PC from someone who throwing one out, as linux is very light but unfortunately none as of yet. this is why im looking at the building route. which im quite excited about as haven't built a PC in a year, running Macs mainly now.

What about looking on member's market? Get yourself a cheapie bundle then just add HDs and case.

good idea ive had a look nothing really pops out at me at the moment,

to be honest, Spec wise, the OS could easily run on a old P4 and 1GB ram and still run smooth. its just finding that someone who doesn't want it anymore. i found a case on a conpetitors site old beige looking case for £10 which could be fun to mod.
