this could be for software too so sorry if it seems wrong..... im wanting to make my xp machine into a file server for my flat mates etc its just a stand alone sitting in the corner so they can access files but not delete etc .... i was wanting a web login but apart from that i dont want to use the usual network sharing etc ....... any ideas ?

how do you use IIS ??
im trying to share external hdds (which ive done before a long xp install ago) and it wont let me share them now nor will it let me share another internal drive

or if i untick the use easy file sharing in the documents a login appears and it wont let me login on any of them .... "computer1/flat" ??? all on workgroup/mshome

just worked when i used map network drive ......this only works if im an admin how can i change this .....
