File sharing speed on homehub

Say I wanted to transfer a folder that is around 2/3gb, how fast would it copy from one computer to another wirelessly on a bt infinity homehub? Would this slow the connection down whilst doing other things such as downloading or browsing?

Or would I be better to copy the file on to an external hard drive via usb 2 and copy it to the other computer?

Homehub works of wireless g spec so it'll take at least an hour and cripple the rest of your network traffic while its going
