Hi,

Just wondered how everyone here managed their hdd space especially those ppl with terabytes etc...

Im basically bordering nearly 1tb and its frustating to see duplicate programs I have downloads or more painfully programs I thought I had lost "found"...

I do keep seperate folders i.e. music, apps, games, movies, etc

Still I see an inefficient and improper use of my hdd space...

Also how do you know what you have? to avoid duplicates? do you keep logs? records?

Id really appreciate some help and advice on this

cheers peeps

i just try to keep it as organisded as possible tidying it as often as possible. although i only have 200gb-ish i have to admite its hard purely because of crappy programs installing in random places. I hate when they put folders in my documents, or outside of program files folder.

I download quite a bit of stuff ..........who doesn't , but keep a folder on my C:\ drive caled downloads . Inside this folder are folders coresponding to what I download . ie mp3 ,photos ,programs ,videos etc . I scan this download folder regularly and when it's gets to 650mb or there abouts its put on to disk for backup , original stuff deleted and then I start again . I have quite a few disks now , I first went on line in Feb 1997 but adopted this procedure since then and I havn't losed a thing if I've had to format or been knocked out by a virus etc. It also keeps my drive from getting cluttered and from forgetting what I have and where.
