File synchronisation

Hey,

I have a laptop and PC connected via a wireless LAN. At the moment I use both machines as much as each other and that means accessing My Documents etc. Is there anyway of if I change a document on the laptop it will change on the PC when I next log onto it, so syncing everytime I log onto each machine?

Your probably thinking why don't I just share a folder but I don't want to turn on the 'other' machine to access the certain folder each time.

If you map a drive on your laptop to your pc's My Documents folder. then set your laptop to use this drive as its My Documents folder. Then you need to select "make available offline" this should sync up the files whenever both machines are one.

Another option is to get a file server or even a NAS and use that for My documents on both machines

I've found the map drive option but I can't seem to share my whole local C: drive. How do you do this? When I click "Sharing and Security" it just takes me to the properties page.

Any ideas?

Still haven't found the work offline option neither.
 
the make available offline option is in the file menu and only appears when a network drive is selected.

You should be able to share the entire drive. On the properties I think there is a link that says "I understand sharing settings" or something like that

Ah yes I see, however, I only have the option too share the laptop C: drive and not the PC's...?
 
I've worked around this and am now synchronising everything.

Once its sync'd will it only sync info thats changed?

E.G If I've sync'd My Pictures and don't change anything in it, will it auto sync when I change another folder?

It's just that it takes blooming ages to sync :(
