I'm using Win10 Pro.
I've recently had a file that for some reason wouldn't delete in regular mode.
It was a .ts (video) file that I'd been converting in to a different format. I've done this process with many .ts files before and never had a problem deleting them.
I selected the file with a left click and pressed the delete key. Nothing happened. I then right clicked the file and seleted delete from the options, again nothing happened.
I decided to reboot in to safe mode. I was then able to delete the file. It went in to the recycle bin. I had forgot to empty the bin, so when I went back to regular windows mode it wouldn't let me delete the file, even though the file was listed in the bin. I had to go back in to safe mode and empty the bin from there.
Over the years I've had similar situations were a file is in use by another program that is stopping it being deleted (though in those situations an error box would appear saying unable to delete). Is there any program these days that can see which programs are using a particular file?
That would at least let me work on the program for it to release the file. If this is even the reason it wouldn't delete.
It's very strange.
