right i have a wierd one at the moment, i transfered some avi and mkv files on to a small external drive (formatted on his pc to ntfs) for a mate at work but when he went to look at the files it was empty, he went to control panel to check that the folder options was set to show invisiable(sp) files which it was but still nothing, when he looked at the properties it was showing that 18gb was been used on it , and the same again when i have gone to transfer some films on to my popcorn machine data taking up space just no films its only started this past 2 days  any ideas

Given that Mac OS X can't write to NTFS volumes natively I assume it hasn't copied properly or at all.

2nd that. You must have missed the "You do not have permission to write to this drive".

Sorry, but the data is probably not present though the drive might have flagged the 18 gig space for it before permission was denied.

there was a problem with ntfs-3g which lets you right to ntfs hard drives on a mac its working ok now
