transfering a video file from win 10 M.2 nve ssd drive to whs 2011 hard drive i get around 11MB/s does this sound right, i get lost with networking settings ?
Thanks

You divide megabits by eight to get the megabyte number. So, if you're on a 100Mb network, in theory you should be getting 12.5MB/s, but you'll never achieve that.

Thanks all explained it clearly to me,so if it’s all wired cat 6 do I just check the spec of the switch and Ethernet ports on the mb’s ?

Yes. Something on your data's journey from your PC to the server probably has only got a 100Mbit port or a shoddy cable. Check network cards in the machines, switches it passes through, maybe the router and I hope you're not using homeplugs because that'll be it right there if so. If the speeds aren't written on the devices then find the make and model and google the specs.

List your devices.

The whs, pc, router, switch.

Detail how it's all connected.

Sounds like something is 100mbps.

And check all the cables have all 4 pairs (8 little cables) connected because a lot of ‘freebie’ cables only have 4 connected and that means you’ll run at 100Mbps.
