I have all my music and pictures on my desktop PC.

I'd like to move them to my MacBook Pro when it arrives.

I'm looking at getting a portable HDD from Apple, they have some decent ones on the store.

Would it be as simple as moving my music from PC > HDD > Macbook?

Not that I'm aware of.

It's all sorted by iTunes, have a fair few movies and podcasts and television shows as well.

Really pleased it's that simple :)

Thanks for the quick reply.

Ah, if it's all iTunes and not MP3s/WMA then I'm not certain. There's probably some backup/restore options in iTunes, or you might be able to copy the files straight across. I've never really used it.

Navigate to..

User > My Documents > My Music > iTunes (XP)
Libraries > Music > iTunes (Windows 7)

Inside you'll see a folder called "iTunes Music".

Copy this to the hard drive, then simply open iTunes in OS X and drag it in to the library.

You'll have to resubscribe to the podcasts and the playcounts will be gone, but it'll import it all from fresh.

Yeah, inside iTunes Music you'll find the Applications, Movies and Podcasts sub folders.

Think of it like the folder that holds your content. The only other folder is the parent "iTunes" folder which has the library.xml file, but I don't know if it's cross compatible between Windows and OS X so forget about that.
