FILE_IO_ERRORs recently

Recently my client keeps crashing & rebooting my PC as it finishes a WU (I think, I'm never there at the time). The forced shutdown results in a FILE_IO_ERROR and I can't get the WU to send. Removing the WU does result in a new one being DL'ed, and work starts again fine. I can shut doen the client with Ctrl-C and it restarts fine, but I've not finished sent a WU in about a week.

I've not changed my HDD drivers recently, or anything I can remember. Is it related to the new fah.exe do you think? I must confess I can't rememebr if I've updated, however as it is still technically running I assume I have.

Thanks for any advice,

Tried my other (physical) drive, and also a full uninstall and reinstall. Still not playing properly. I suppose I should have set clocks back to stock first, but that's what I'll try next. It is Orthos stable for>12hrs.

Same thread to avoid clutter:

I'm still getting FILE_IO_ERRORS, at stock and 12hrOrthos stable OC. Reinstalling with a reg clean doesn't help. If I shut the client down and restart, it works OK. My errors only occur at startup (so also when a new unit comes in), but not every time. Short of reinstalling Windows, is there anyone out there who has ideas I can try?

Alternatively, is there a batch file I can write that automatically restarts the FAH.exe if a FILE_IO_ERROR occurs?

Sorry- never answered your Q, yes the CPU stays at 100% during the error, temps are still raised so it's doing some kind of calculations- just doesn't write anything, or trigger a checkpoint.

I think Cob meant does this always happen when you get to 100% complete - as in when you finish the last frame.

Incidentally which client is this and if WinSMP then are you using a wireless connection?

No, if it's running OK, then it will finish fine, then send the data, and recieve a new WU. However, the new WU is hit and miss whether it works. A restart of F@H gets it working.

It's the SMP client over direct wired connection to the ADSL modem/router.
