Hi guys im pretty sure it's not just me with this problem but is any one else sick of paying for FP when the download speeds on the 'high speed' subscriber servers barely reach 40kb sec :s Downloading the Crysis beta has taken me 26 hours so far and im just over half way! *sigh

I'd only pay for it if it was guaranteed that it would max out my connection constantly.

I see many reports of subscribers getting poor transfer rates, I thought they paid so that they wouldn't?

I get poor transfer rates from FilePlanet (usually 70-200KB/s on a 5Mbit synced line.), but I don't pay for speed when it comes to FilePlanet because I have GamersHell for that, I pay for exclusive demos and betas. :)

I'm a non subscriber and got the beta at about 800kbs :)

Its your line mate ;)

i used to be a sub at FP and when ever i had bad transfer i would pause the download then close the DLM

when you reopen it and unpause it normally goes a lot faster

im a subscriber, i pay and i get full connection for everything.

EDIT, im at uni now and they cap connections to 50KB/s, soo its kinda not fun anymore

I don't understand why people pay for these things. It only encourages industry to shift their distribution to the slow and spam managed pseudo hosts like fileplanet. You used to be able to download patches from releaser's site for free, now you have to wait few days in queues for sucky download speeds and being manouvered into paying a hub company for patches and demos which were meant to be free in the first place. It's like Pizza Hut sold you meal with obligation of you spending fiver at Sainsburys for salt, pepper and ketchup.

Just say no. It's mockery.

Trust us, it's not his line. FilePlanet's service is just dire.

yes.. and im sure the other 1000's of fileplanet members would agree

i have had no problems with fileplanet for many yrears,
never let me down.

if you know how to run your line to the max for connection.
YOU WILL HAVE NO PROBLEMS!

so quit many hate replys about fileplanet.
if you have nothing good to say... dont say anything at all

people with a subscription and a poor transfer rate have you tried downloading the same thing over 1 of the free FP servers and then compared speeds?

yes.. and im sure the other 1000's of fileplanet members would agree
I know tons of people who do have problems with FilePlanet and tons who don't, I never said it was dire for 100% of customers but it sure as hell is not fine for 100% of them either.

Shove your rolleyes smiley, by the way.

Good for you, unfortunately it's not the case for everyone.

I know how to set up my internet connection to take full advantage of its available bandwidth, thank you very much for assuming that I am some sort of newbie.

Sites like GamersHell give me the full 5Mbit constantly when not swarmed, so why then do I always get 70-200KB/s from FilePlanet? Since I'm obviously such a newbie, and you're obviously such an expert (even if you can't spell to save your life), then please tell me how to fix it.

If you could read, you would see that I already listed two good things about FilePlanet that give me enough incentive to continue paying for their slow service: Exclusive demo releases and beta participation, which more than make up for it. If I had nothing good to say about FilePlanet then I wouldn't have added an annual subscription to my account, would I? :o

It's got nothing to do with peoples connections; as said, Fileplanet is awful. Unless there's a Europe server up (and it's not overloaded) the speeds you'll get from East and West coast US servers are dreadful, no matter what line speed you're using.
I've downloaded from West coast servers before on other sites and gotten very respectable speeds on my 20Mb.

I won't be renewing my subscription. The CoD4 demo fiasco was the final straw. If they don't want to put European servers up on such a major release then they shouldn't have European subscribers.

Simple Fact:

FilePlanet survive off the exclusive Beta's/Demo's. BETA being the buzzword of 2007 and gets everyones ears twitching with even a slight echo of the word. FilePlanet know this so pay the developers trucks of cash to get these exclusive demo's/beta's. They have built up a good relationship with most of today's big developers/publishers. So this trend is set to continue luckily for Fileplanet because if it wasn't for these they would be long DEAD.
