IF you get enough people to file a complaint against your gamertag don't Microsoft make you change it?

I don't really like my gamertag but i don't want to pay 800msp to get it changed. So does this method work..? :p

I've never done it so this is in no way a solid answer but... my friends son does it quite often and has never been banned. Just make sure the people that do it aren't on your friends list.

You really don't want to risk banning or suspending yourself. Try calling Microsoft support, maybe they'll be surprised it isn't a person trying to cancel the service for once and gladly help you out.

I think it would probably only work if you received enough complaints + your tag was somehow offensive. Seeing as your tag only looks like you entered it when drunk I doubt MS will do it for you.

However, it would be interesting to see if you can break some kind of record for the most complaints received whilst still not getting your tag changed :D

I really can't see how anyone could read a complaint, claiming the tag 'CHRISSSSS 12' to be offensive, seriously.

Ring up Microsoft with some extreme reason you want it changed. I.e. the name reminds me of a close one that recently passed away, can I remove his name? lol etc. quite harsh, probably a bad example, but something along those lines probably stands greater success than taking a risk on getting banned or paying 6-7 quid or whatever it is.

edit: tell MS that youve changed your name and had to enter into some sort of witness protection program as you dobbed in some mafia leg end, and act all offended that youve got to pay to change your username as youve given up your entire life and everything you ever loved has gone.

They must know when its friends all ganging up as well other wise you could get the "Chris" account changed and then swipe that name lol. As others have said though it needs to be something offensive.

It's to deter people from doing it three times a day. If you have to pay £6 to get it changed, it ensures sure you *really* want to do it.

Yeah also I think if you change it the old tag is still unavailable for anyone else to use. If people changed it every day for free then your soon running lower on decent gamer tags options.

Even at 800 points there is one guy on my list that seems to change his GT every other week.

Im going to ring Microsoft up in a bit and use this and see what they say :D

Lol no not Andy. A guy who first went on my list as something like Adamgee and has had atleast 5 or so name changes since he went on my list when I played Army of two.

Whilst on the subject of gamertags, i want to change mine as well but do you keep the achievements and will my Halo 3 service record be affected in any way?

No, doesn't affect anything chief.

I don't change mine no more, although I wanted to do the other day but resisted :D

Everything on the record stays I think though the "Played from" field is changed to the date you played on the new gamertag.
