Filled up with petrol.......now my dash needles don't move?

I'm a little bit concerned here. Stopped off for a normal fill up as I was around 40 miles left of petrol. I used the local BP at a rather nasty 106.9p/litre.

Now, when I turn on the engine and start to set off I see the needles on all the readouts are not moving at all (not even when I turned the key to start - normally they go to a certain default point). Tried turning it off and on again and still no response from it.

Everything else works fine...all the electrics and so forth. I definitely haven't filled up with diesel or anything (I'm sure it wouldn't work anyway) but I did notice a strong smell of petrol when I had finished. Also when I parked up tonight I heard the petrol in the tank sloshing about almost like there was some sort of petrol wave :)

I didn't really notice it but my girlfriend also pointed out the exhaust didn't sound quite right and it was blowing....

Any ideas?

206 GTI. Haven't checked them no, is it likely to be that? I suppose they can go at any time but why as soon as I've filled up hmm...

OK cool I'll have to have a look at the fuses tomorrow evening (shame as I have to drive to work and back tomorrow and don't have time in the morning...). So there is a fuse for the needles?

I suppose it would make sense if everything else works the same.
