How would we go about filling in a gap between the rear bumper and the rear panel of the car.

Its a Rover 216 (1996 Bubble) and its suffered some accident damage to the rear bumper. The bumper no longer fits properly to the rest of the bodywork and there are some minor dents to the rear panel that have mishaped the metal. The gap is about 1 - 1.5cm

We dont want to spend major money on the car as its only cost £740 so bodyshop repairs are going to cost way too much. Is there any product available that can be used to simply extend the edges of the existing bumper from its current position? Fillers etc.....

We just want to make the car look presentable

I cant post pictures at the moment but might be able to on sunday if they would help.

We bought the car off ebay and collected it at night and to our surprise in the morning looking at it in daylight we could see that the car was not as described :(
A slight knock to the rear bumper turned out to be a big knock that had dented the rear quater panel under the fuel filler cap, cracked the rear light, and to top it all off someone has tried to cover over the scratches with what looks like house paint and a brush !!!

We can sort out the paint problems with t-cut and its coming off slowly but surely but the out of place bumper is an eyesore.

Weve already had to fork out for a rear light, interior boot light and rear view mirror as all of these were damaged but no mentioned in the auction :(
We still need to source a drivers side mirror as yes you guessed it..... damaged aswell :(

Any help greatfully received

Jesus thats an expensive 1996 bubble!

Anyway re the bumper problem i think your best bet is to post pictures so we can see the extent of the dent. I cant see how you will fill it without it looking a real mess so i'd look toward pulling the dent out as best you can.

Filler will crack as the bumper moves. Your best bet would to be address why it doesn't meet up properly rather than try to hide it. There's probably a bent bracket or something behind the bumper.

Thats quite dear. I sold my S-reg black 214 si 2 door with only 41,000 on the clock. New head gasket, new valves, new water pump. Just been serviced and 2 oil changes im mint condition for £775. I'd ask them for my money back mate
