Ok so i got a Raynox 150 macro lens and im using this guide: http://bugmacros.com/tz3_adapter/ to fit it to my TZ5. I made an adapter out of an old plastic tube and it does work. Just about.

When i was taking pictures the stress of the Raynox 150 was too much on the plastic tube and it popped off, so im not looking for a 55mm filter adapter, like the one this guy uses here:

However i have tried looking on the 'bay and haven't really found anything. I dont know what to search for cause i dont know the exact name of what im looking for. He said he used an old 55mm filter and just smashed the glass out of it, so i want to do the same thing so as to not let the 150 pop out again.

If you guys could point in the right direction of finding one for cheap, that would be a lot of help. :)

Thanks

I'm not sure on the filter adapters, however if you are going to use an old filter, it's normaly possible to remove the piece of glass without breaking it. I believe hoya and nikons use circlips - I have taken a CPL apart that was where the glass was held in by just a circlip/internal snap ring, so there is a small gap in the plastic ring around the edge of the glass. If you get a very small screwdriver and lift up one side and rotate it, the small piece of plastic should come out and allow you to remove the glass that it holds in without breaking it. I would guess this is the case for other filters too and not just CPLs but can't verify it though.

Can you buy those online? Just want an el cheapo one and dont really care what brand it is. Just needs to be 55mm in diameter and around 47mm high.

I'm not sure what height they generally are, but if you go on ebay and search for 55mm filter then there's loads of choice. I'm not quite sure what it is you need, just thought i'd try and save you smashing some glass unnecessarily :p

I think its called a filter adapter tube or extension tube. Whenever i search on ebay, it just comes up with a lot of adapter "rings" for cameras, but i want something like this:
