Hi,

I'd like to purchase a decent filter for my tokina 11-16 and was looking at a:

Hoya 77mm Pro1 Digital UV Filter or a Hoya 77mm Super HMC Pro-1 UV (O) Filter.

My question is, is it worth the bit extra to get the Super HMC Pro version which apparently has 12 layers of Super Multicoating which are applied to the surface of the Skylight 1B and UV models, that produce an average transmission of 99.7%?

Cheers

My advice as always is don't waste your money on filters and use the hood. Seeing as you do want a filter it seems, then the key point will be quality and in the case of an ultra-wide lens, thinness of the glass to avoid unhelpful vignetting or other aberrations on your image. You may be better getting a polariser vs UV which is effectively useless other than "protecting" the front element of your lens.

The Tokina is quite bad for flare as it is. Adding a filter to the front will only make it worse.
