Filter size for 400D w/kit lens?

My 400D is due next Tuesday and I want to pre-purchase some various bits of kit for it. Looking at a polarising filter and a grad grey, used to use them to good effect on my old Zenit SLR

Thing is, I don't know what size to get for the 400D - anyone help me out please? I need to get all this sorted and set up by next Saturday, off to the London Guitar Show and am looking forward to taking some shots of the entire day

Yeah the kit lens is 58mm. The only lens I've got that's 52 is the nifty.

Check out eBay for filters from Honk Kong, they are the major brands ie Hoya etc. Yet at about half the price.
I purchased a polariser for a 72mm lens on my 400D and it caost me nearly £50 from Camera World in the high street, as they were cheaper than Jessops !
